Robyn Faith Walsh is Associate Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity and Gabelli Senior Scholar at the University of Miami, Director of the da Vinci Scholars Program, President of Phi Beta Kappa, and Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Vienna.
As Director, she leads an interdisciplinary, cohort-based honors program designed for students whose interests span the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. The program brings students together through small, discussion-driven seminars that emphasize collaborative inquiry and intellectual range. Walsh’s own teaching in the program reflects this approach: she has taught courses on ancient physics and philosophy, explored ethical and cultural questions surrounding death and dying—including a recent collaboration with the Lowe Art Museum—and serves as Chair of the Anatomical Board at the Miller School of Medicine, where she oversees issues related to anatomical donation and medical education.
Walsh’s research examines early Christian literature within the broader literary and intellectual culture of the ancient Mediterranean, with particular attention to authorship, readership, and the production of texts. She is the author of The Origins of Early Christian Literature (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and has published widely on the relationship between the New Testament and Greco-Roman literary traditions. Her current projects continue to explore how ancient texts are created, circulated, and reinterpreted across time.
In addition to her academic work, Walsh is an active public scholar whose writing and commentary have appeared in venues such as The New Yorker, National Geographic, and the Biblical Archaeology Review. Across her research, teaching, and program leadership, she is especially interested in how ideas move between disciplines and audiences—an approach that shapes both her scholarship and her work with da Vinci students.
